The Bold Ones — Ezra Cohen

Since I was young, my “life verse” has been 1 Corinthians 2:9 which says “No eye has seen. No ear has heard. No heart has imagined what God has in store for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.” As a believer - but specifically as a creative - these words resonate deep in me. I’ve grown up unsatisfied with watching the Church creatively copy-cat culture instead of leading it. I believe that we serve a God who still moves and speaks in creativity and innovation, and when we put our eyes on Him instead of fearing the world’s opinions and benchmarks that we’ll see new levels of creativity and innovation.

When we moved to Nashville in 2016, my wife and I began to meet other individuals who believed the same - who were boldly living out this scripture in their careers and in their lives in a real way. So when my old youth group approached me to create a short film for their student conference in 2018, I quickly got a sense that it was time to capture what was happening in our community and share it with the world on a larger scale.

I’ll never forget the countless kids who came up to me after playing this film at the conference - tears in their eyes - saying they had no idea that they were allowed to serve God AND be an artist. Years of confusion about “conflicting” passions melting away over the course of 20 minutes as they watched other young people serving the Lord with the gifting He had placed in their hands/heart.

I’m now on a mission to expand this movement and continue developing stories across multiple industries, cities, etc.

The Bold Ones is a documentary film about 6 young people learning to obey and find out what God has in store.
